What exactly is QuoteVault?

QuoteVault is a service which allows to collect citations and quotes from digital and analog media. Primarily aimed at collecting quotes during your daily web safari, QuoteVault excels at helping you in collecting, sorting and grouping of said media. A comfortable bookmarklet aids in fetching quotes while you browse or read (almost) any site. After you collected a quote, you can add meta-information to it.

What value does it offer me?

How often did it occur to you, that you read an interesting article on the web and decided that it was worth bookmarking, for example because it contained some arguments for a future essay, book or blog-entry of yours. It might be that there were some specific quotes which managed to summarize a complex topic in a easy and insightful way. Since the quote alone wouldn‘t be too helpful without the rest of the article, you decided against writing the quote down but bookmark the whole article instead.

Now, some weeks later, while cleaning your bookmarks, you stumble upon this article again, and somehow fail to recognize just why you bookmarked it. There were some insightfull quotes, but finding them would require reading the whole article again - and right now you really want to clean your bookmarks, besides - you already read the article some weeks ago. At worst you might even have had aspiring ideas upon first reading which are all lost by now.

Sounds familiar? To us it did, and that‘s why we chose to implement our very own bookmarking system which is heavily optimized for collecting, storing and managing Quotes. We stumble upon insightful quotes all the time and tried various ways to sort these, by means of copy & paste, printing, bookmarking or even making screenshots. However none of these worked as they were either (a) complicated to collect the quotes, (b) difficult in managing the quotes or (c) resulted in a messy collection of unrelated files. In comes QuoteVault.

QuoteVault is a new free service which tries to supplement classical bookmarking by giving you the option to add important meta-information to every bookmark. The most important part here is the ability to bookmark specific quotes: You select some text on a webpage, click „Save to QuoteVault“ and the software will add that selected text as a new quote with the current bookmark as the quote‘s origin. In addition to that, you can enrich the quote by writing short notes, which could contain aspiring ideas, you had when you read that page, or even explain just why you bookmarked the site. And even more, you can assign tags to each quote, which aids you in finding them later on.

After you collected your quotes, we over a fullfeatured set of tools in line with a swell UI, so you have all the options you need in order to classify, search and manage your quotes.

Apart from that, you can always export your quotes to xml or post them to your weblog.

All in all QuoteVault is a great enhancement to your online toolset as it allows to create context-sensitive bookmarks. Especially if you‘re researching for academic papers or books, you will quickly fall in love with the option to save specific quotes with tags & notes into a always-accessible vault. We‘re already working on academia-support by means of adding EndNote and Latex export so it‘s even easier for you to implement QuoteVault in your current workflow.

We hope you like our application and find a great use and value in it.
